As part of the health-care team, the Medical Laboratory Technologist manage a large variety of laboratory tests and procedures that assist doctors in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases. PGC's MLT programme provides a scientific foundation as well a thorough competency-based training, enabling students to develop hands-on knowledge to acquire employment. The fact that we closely work with TOP end industry partners provide our students the access to most modern methodologies and equipment which prepares PGC graduates for employment across the globe.

PROGRAMME DELIVERY
ONLINE / ON CAMPUS - Hybrid delivery

The programme objective is employability. Hence PGC Education's direct emphasis is in enhancing the skill competency levels of the student using On-The-Job Training as the co-focus of the programme delivery along with academic studies. For this purpose, PGC will be using the CPT (Curricular practical training) methodology where for most of the programme duration (approximately 50%), the student shall be employed, and the employment experience shall be carefully vetted and validated as training. The programme is featured for part time and full time studies enabling those from the industry or those who are engaged in other sectors to enroll.

The first 3 semesters (12 months) shall be lectures, classroom practical's and demonstrations which the student has to attend according the class time schedules (Full time, Part time or Hybrid delivery). This also includes a 5-week job orientation, The second year of the studies will consist of On-the-job training. On-the-job training will be carried out in collaboration with major laboratory institutions.

PGC shall use modern delivery methodologies to deliver the programme which shall include online/physical lectures, demonstration sessions, hospital visits and also interactive lecture materials, research articles, protocols, and SOPs. Students will be evaluated continuously in a variety of means including practical evaluations, vivas, OSPEs, quizzes, presentations, group activities, and posters. Our key delivery platform is Microsoft Teams. The students can download lectures/study materials within 40 days from the delivery date.

FURTHER EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES

The PGC Diploma in MLT students could eventually join many healthcare related and other fields including Bio Medicine, Bio Technology, Nursing, Microbiology, Biology Medical Laboratory Science, Research & Development, Public Health, Food Industry, etc.
Our MLT students are eligible to join the Top Up (Final Year) of the Bachelors in Biomedical Science (UK and Malaysia) as well as the 2nd year of the Bachelors in Medical Laboratory Science in CQ University Australia. We also have study abroad pathways for bachelors overseas with more than 60 University partners in over 20 countries including and but not limiting to Canada, UK, Australia, France, Singapore and Malaysia.

RPL/CREDIT EXEMPTIONS
- Those with work experience in a recognized laboratory OR those with other relevant MLT/related qualifications will be assessed case by case by our academic council followed with an aptitude test for providing Credit exemptions.
- Those who has more than 5 years work experience are exempted from the CPT module
